Northeast's First Fish Museum to Open in Arunachal Pradesh

The Integrated Aqua Park will serve those who want to take up up the fishery business in the state.

ITANAGAR: In a bid to boost tourism in the state as well as to preserve the rich diversity of aquatic life, the Arunachal Pradesh government aims to set up a Fish Museum.

The announcement came from the Minister of Fisheries of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh Tage Taki. This will be the first project developed in this line in the entire Northeastern Region of the country. The minister made this announcement on Sunday.

The museum will be a part of the Integrated Aqua Park in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. The project will be under the Union Ministry of Fisheries and it has already been sanctioned. A total amount of Rs 43.59 Crs have been sanctioned for this project. This is the first installment for the setup allotted in the current financial year.

There is already a fishery project in the village of Bulla. The name of this project is the Tarin Fish Farm. Located in the Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh. This project will be upgraded to an Integrated Aqua Park and it will be the grounds of the upcoming fish museum.

A report mentioned that this project will have all the fish species of the state. Apart from giving a good visual appeal, the project will also double up as a training center for anyone interested in taking up the fishery business in the state.

"Three years ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced one IAP for each state and Union territory under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampad Yojana (PMMSY) for bringing blue revolution," Fishery Minister Tage Taki said.

"I had gone to the Hyderabad-based National Fisheries Development Board twice to seek guidance of experts on the project which was originally proposed for ₹ 100 crore," Tage Taki added.

The Ziro region located near the Bulla region is famous for the cultivation of rice and organic fruits, especially kiwi.
