Rajiv Gandhi University Associate Professor Dr. Manjunath Bangalore Govinda Raju Passes Away

Rajiv Gandhi University’s Department of Statistics head Associate Professor Dr Manjunath Bangalore Govinda Raju passed away on Thursday.

Itanagar: Rajiv Gandhi University’s Department of Statistics head Associate Professor Dr Manjunath Bangalore Govinda Raju passed away on Thursday.

Born on July 24, 1981 in Bengaluru, Dr Manjunath completed his B Sc (Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics) degree in 2003 from Government Science College, Bengaluru; M Sc (Statistics) in 2005 from Bangalore University; and PhD in Statistics in 2010 from the University of Siegen, Germany. He joined the RGU on February 5, 2024.

Prior to joining RGU, Dr Manjunath served as an assistant professor at the University of Hyderabad from March 13, 2017 to February 3, 2024, completing almost seven years of dedicated service. During his illustrious career, he received two international awards and fellowships and was invited to deliver 13 lectures/presentations at esteemed academic and professional forums.

The RGU community convened a condolence meeting at the administrative block to mourn the untimely demise of Dr Manjunath.

All statutory officers, Deans of Faculties, directors, Heads of Departments and Institutes, coordinators, faculty members, officers, and non-teaching employees of the university observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul.

Dr Manjunath is survived by his wife, Shruti Manjunath and his five-year-old daughter M Sai Chiranvi.

The RGU fraternity expressed appreciation for the valuable contributions made by Dr Manjunath as an associate professor and Head of Department of Statistics. His untimely demise is a huge loss to the academic community, it said.
