ITANAGAR: Social activist Sol Dodum has appealed to the police team of the SIT for a detailed inquiry over the alleged corruption in the Seppa division of the PHE department, misuse of funds in the water treatment plant (WTP) construction and arrest of the culprits involved in the attack on him and his team.

Addressing mediapersons at the press club here on Sunday, Dodum said that though the State Government has accepted his charters of demand, the concern remains over the positive outcome through the investigation process.

He said that on many occasions, the SIT fails to provide justice in such cases. Therefore, it should be clear to the State Government that there should be proper investigation into the case without any lapses.

"I do believe the police will do justice to the case by solving it in a minimum time period. In case it fails to do so, we will go against the State Government through democratic movements and, if necessary, we will demand for a CBI inquiry," he said, adding that evidence regarding his claims will be provided to the team of SIT and SIC.

Dodum claimed that the former PHED Executive Engineer has appointed his kith and kin in the department, defying the recruitment norms. Further, the WTP at Lai Moya, which should have seven layers for water purification, has only three layers.

"All evidence related to my claims will also be provided to the team of police as soon as I reach Seppa so that a fair investigation is conducted," he added.

"Acceptance by the State Government of my charter of demands is not a real win. But, the movement will be termed as a 'win' when the entire funds misused in the construction of WTP is returned, the work is executed properly and illegal appointments are cancelled and the guilty persons are arrested," he said.

Dodum also said that though there will be consequences for his action, yet his stand is clear that people should get what they deserve and someone has to raise his or her voice against such corruption, be it against any individual or the State Government.

"It is not only about East Kameng district but corruption in any part of the State is not acceptable. Hence, I will be always raising my voice against such practices," he added.

The State Government has approved a preliminary enquiry against the PHE&WS department, Seppa Division for fund mismanagement and low quality work in the construction of WTP and other projects. Likewise, the case registered at Seppa for the ambush and attack on Dodum has been transferred to the SIT for further investigation.

Hence, following the assurance from the State Government, Dodum called off his protest, which began from April 15 at the Tennis Court near here.
