ITANAGAR: The Galo Welfare Society (GWS) held a mass sit-in protest at IG Park on Saturday. The protest was against the delay in solving the alleged murder case of former Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) Secretary Tumi Gangkak. Speaking to the reporters, the spouse of the late Gangkak said that her husband would still be alive today if not for the APPSC paper leakage issue. She said that her husband was innocent and therefore attended every single interrogation summoned by the CBI. And the death of his husband was a planned murder, not a suicide.

While appealing to the students and community-based unions of the state to support the cause, she also informed them that there has not been a single update on the case despite repeated requests to the police department. "We still stay in the government's allotted quarter. Moreover, the daily routine of my husband was to go to the office and return by the afternoon. We also don’t possess any luxury vehicles or private residents. Therefore, there is no chance that my husband was involved in the paper leakage case," she said.

Further, she claimed that SIC of state police official Bumchu Krong was the one who called her husband for questions before his mysterious death. Therefore, the officer should be interrogated to unearth information on the matter.

The demands of the GWS include making the police investigation report public, the immediate arrest and suspension of SIC inspector Bumchu Krong and other officials for a fair investigation, adequate compensation to the deceased family, and the setting up of a fast-track court into the matter.

Meanwhile, a member of GWS said that the CCTV footage, CDR, and investigation report provided to the society clearly indicate that there is a lack of interest in solving the case. He said that the evidence that the society has gathered through its own sources does not match the investigation report provided to them by the police department.

"Moreover, why the police department is reluctant in arresting the alleged accused, Bumchum Krong, despite the case being registered under ‘murder? Bumchu Krong and his colleagues involved in the interrogation of the deceased should be suspended and accordingly arrested for a fair investigation," he said.
