38 persons arrested in Dhubri after shoot-at-sight order; SP transferred, Leena Doley takes charge

A total of 38 persons who had been evading arrest despite the issuance of non-bailable warrants were apprehended by Dhubri police following a shoot-at-sight order issued on Thursday.

DHUBRI: A total of 38 persons who had been evading arrest despite the issuance of non-bailable warrants were apprehended by Dhubri police following a shoot-at-sight order issued on Thursday. The arrests come in the wake of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s visit to Dhubri on Friday, during which he gave strict instructions to arrest all individuals against whom non-bailable warrants had been issued.

In a related development, Dhubri Superintendent of Police Navin Singh has been transferred, and Leena Doley has been appointed as the new SP of Dhubri. She is expected to take charge on Saturday.

Talking to The Sentinel, Officer-in-Charge of Dhubri Sadar Police Station, T. Bora, confirmed that 38 individuals have been arrested so far, with more arrests likely in the coming days. “The new SP will take charge tomorrow,” Bora added.

Meanwhile, law and order in Dhubri have significantly improved, especially in sensitive, vulnerable, and trouble-torn areas, due to the deployment of additional security forces. Police sources also confirmed that security around temples has been strengthened, with police actively monitoring the situation to ensure peace and stability.
