8th Lower Assam dental meet held at Manas National National Park

The Lower Assam Branch of Indian Dental Association organized the 8th Lower Assam Dental with a day-long programme in Musa Jungle Retreat at Manas National National Park.

PATHSALA: The Lower Assam Branch of Indian Dental Association organized the 8th Lower Assam Dental with a day-long programme in Musa Jungle Retreat at Manas National National Park.

Dr Jayanta Das, Honorary President of IDA, Lower Assam Branch, hoisted the ceremonial flag and inaugurated the event in presence of invited dignitaries. During the programme, the organizing committee also felicitated senior doctors and the invited guests. 

With a view to uplift the dental fraternity, different scientific sessions were conducted by several experts from different plethora, namely scope of facial aesthetics in dentistry by Dr Ashish Kumar Singh from Uttar Pradesh and optimizing private practice with Zirconia and Emax by Dr Abhishek Jairaj from Kerala. Dr Subhash Debnath, Prof & HoD, Dept of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, inaugurated the Scientific session. In the same event, a lecture on tobacco cessation and dental practice was delivered by Dr Ashim Choudhury and Dr Atindra Das. Dr Heman Das, retired professor of the regional dental college, Guwahati, was present in the event as chief guest. Dr Manjula Das, Principal in-charge, GDC, Silchar, and Dr Jogeswar Barman, Prof & HoD, Dept of Prosthodontics, RDC, Guwahati, were present as special invitees of the event. Dr Rubi Kataki, Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, SSUHS and President of the Assam State Dental Council, was awarded with the lifetime achievement award by the branch for her dedicated service to the people and state of Assam. Dr Irfan Habib was awarded the President’s Special Appreciation award and Dr Chinmoy Hazarika with the Young Achiever award in the same event.

Yearly souvenir of the branch, “ORA-FAM”, was also released by Dr Sanjib Khataniar, Prof & HoD, Dept of Oral Medicine & Radiology, RDC, Guwahati, in presence of invited dignitaries.

The meeting concluded in the evening with the felicitation of all the participants and a beautiful cultural programme managed by Dr Rakesh Das and Pragyan Das. The programme was anchored by Dr Parinita Barman and coordinated by Dr Rupam Choudhury, Honorary Secretary of IDA, Lower Assam Branch. Dr Nayan Sarma, President, and Dr Amir Hussain, Secretary of the organising committee thanked all the dignitaries as well as the participants for their excellent cooperation.
