KOKRAJHAR:  The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) on Sunday demanded the publication of all government notifications, including electoral rolls of BTC elections to be held in September, in the Bodo language along with Assamese.

Talking to mediapersons at Bodofa House, the President of the ABSU, Dipen Boro, said that the student union wanted the implementation of Assam Language (Amendment) Act, 2020 to properly use Bodo language in any government order and notification. He said that the Bodo language was one of the 8th Schedule languages of India and it was also the associate official language of Assam and thus the Bodo language should be equally used in official notifications along with Assamese. He also said that Bodo should be included in the Assam Judicial Service examination.

The ABSU President added that the examination for recruitment of Junior Administrative Assistant grade-III in District Judicial Service should also include the Bodo language subject and the advertisement for the same should also be published in Bodo. He also said that the judicial system should also not ignore the Bodo language and that if they continue to do so, the student body would be compelled to launch a democratic movement.

Boro also urged the use of Bodo language along with Assamese in all official purposes, as mentioned in the Assam Official Language (Amendment) Act, 2020 under Section 5A, in the districts and sub-divisions of Assam having substantial Bodo populations instead of concentrating it only in BTR Sixth Schedule areas.
