KOKRAJHAR: The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) on Wednesday urged the government of Assam to retain the previous recruitment policy, exempting the 6th schedule Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) areas from a newly-proposed draft policy for appointing college teachers and non-teaching staff.
Speaking before the media persons at Bodofa House in Kokrajhar, ABSU president Dipen Boro emphasized the importance of maintaining the existing process to ensure fairness and avoid disruptions in recruitment of college teachers. Boro also reiterated on the full implementation of the BTR peace accord signed on January 27, 2020. He urged the government to include the remaining villages in BTR as per the spirit of the accord and to expedite the legal process of releasing NDFB leaders and workers, to provide compensation to the families of Bodoland martyrs.
Additionally, Boro expressed concern over the reports of encroachment and deforestation in the Ripu-Chirang reserve forest area, now declared as “Sikhwna Jwhwlao National Park,” along the Indo-Bhutan border in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts. He urged the BTC and state authorities to take immediate action to prevent further destruction and called for an inquiry into the issue.
