ASSA Honours Mahamaya Forest Workers on World Environment Day

Forest grass root workers engaged in protecting the Mahamaya Reserve Forest of Kokrajhar district, were felicitated by Aranya Suraksha Samity, Assam (ASSA) on the occasion of World Environment Day.

DHUBRI: Forest grass root workers engaged in protecting the Mahamaya Reserve Forest of Kokrajhar district, were felicitated by Aranya Suraksha Samity, Assam (ASSA) on the occasion of World Environment Day. ASSA honoured and felicitated the forest workers of Rajapara Range under Mahamaya. The Rajapara Range in Mahamaya is home to the white-rumped vulture (Gyps bengalensis).

Talking to The Sentinel, Secretary General of ASSA Dr Haricharan Das, while praising the dedicated and sincere services of forest workers, said that they had been playing a vital role in the protection of these vultures in particular and the forest in general. Besides Dr Das, the Organizational Secretary, Dhrubaranjan Chakra-borty, extended greetings on World Environment Day and felicitated the forest workers with traditional phulam gamochas.
