Assam: 22nd Biennial Session of Sivasagar Zila Xahitya Xabha Begins Today

The 22nd biennial session of Sivasagar Zila Xahitya Xabha will be held from January 24-26 at Kristi Bikash Samaj auditorium and Khagen Baruah Smriti Kshetra, Konwerpur.

SIVASAGAR: The 22nd biennial plenary session of the Sivasagar Zila Xahitya Xabha will be held with a three-day programme from January 24 to January 26 at the Kristi Bikash Samaj auditorium and the Khagen Baruah Smriti Samannay Kshetra at Boliaghat, Konwerpur. The programme is organized by the Samannay Xakha Xahitya Xabha with the support of the residents of greater Konwerpur; the session will feature a variety of cultural, literary, and academic events.

According to the schedule, the Khagen Baruah Smriti Samannay Kshetra will be inaugurated in the morning by Harun Al Rashid, President of the Ajanpir Dargah Management Committee. This will be followed by floral tributes and lamp lighting before the statue of Padmanath Gohain Baruah, the founding president of the Axom Xahitya Xabha. At 10 AM, the Pushpa Gogoi Memorial Book Fair and Science Fair will be inaugurated by retired ONGC official Budheshwar Chutia. The Banshi Baruah Memorial Art Competition for students will be inaugurated by Gobin Chandra Borah, President of the Konwerpur Raax and Sankari Kala Kristi Vikash Kendra. Following that, a lecture on "The Role of Youth in Literature" will be delivered by representatives of national and community organizations, dedicated to Karimuddin Ahmed.

A poetry conference in memory of poet Sashikanta Gogoi will be conducted at 1 PM, led by Poonjan Baruah and inaugurated by Dipali Bhattacharya Baruah. On January 25, flags of the 22nd session will be hoisted by 22 distinguished individuals, with the main flag hoisted by Dr. Nirupama Mahanta, President of the Sivasagar Zila Xahitya Xabha. This will be followed by a memorial tribute, a representative meeting, and a panel discussion on "Practical Applications of Literary Creation and the Future of Assamese Literature." At 5 PM, the play "Deuka Bhanga Pakhir Krandan" will be performed by Gaurisagar Central Public Hall under the direction of Mrinanka Saikia.

On January 26, Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi will inaugurate a vibrant cultural procession at 10 AM, which will be followed by an open session. During the open session, 25 distinguished individuals from Sivasagar District will be felicitated. Manoj Kumar Gogoi, Chief Secretary of the Reception Committee, has extended an invitation to the public to attend and participate in all events over the three days.
