Assam: 7th edition of 3-day Judima Festival inaugurated in hilly district of Dima Hasao

With the arrival of winter, the hilly district of Dima Hasao is witnessing the festivals one after another. The season of festivals started with Jatinga, Big Bang, Falcon Festival.

Haflong: With the arrival of winter, the hilly district of Dima Hasao is witnessing the festivals one after another. The season of festivals started with Jatinga, Big Bang, Falcon Festival. 

The seventh edition of Judima Festival was organized with the initiative of Minister Nandita Gorlosa. Agriculture Minister Atul Bora as the chief guest inaugurated the event ceremonially on Friday.

Apart from Minister Nandita Gorlosa, Executive Member Amendu Hojai, MACs Najit Kemprai, Ratan Jarambusa were also present with others.

 Chief guest Minister Bora was very excited to be present at the 7th Judima Festival in Gunjung for the first time. He said that he came here at the invitation of the Minister Gorlosa. The prime attraction of this festival is Judima, which is an essential part of Dimasa social life. Dimasa traditionally use as a drink, which is completely herbal. Judima got the GI tag on September 14, 2021. Now the idea of marketing is going on.

Minister Bora was impressed by the overall arrangements of the Judima Festival as it is completely eco-friendly. He urged festival lovers of Assam to come to the Judima Festival.

Minister Gorlosa said that the Judima Festival started in 2016. The first four years were held in Dibarai village of Haflong. For four consecutive years the festival was held in Gunjung.  In the future, the Judima Festival will be held at a new venue. She said that Judima is one of the traditional drinks of Dimasas which is prepared from rice and herbal ingredients. Judima has received the GI tag. The promotion phase of Judima is over. Now the marketing plan is underway. She thanked MAC Najit Kemprai for his cooperation in organizing the Judima Festival at Gunjung.
