GOLAGHAT: Assam's Golaghat district witnessed a heartbreaking turn of event as a newborn baby boy was abandoned near a shop in the Bokakhat village. Fortunately, the newborn's life was saved due to the timely intervention of a local woman who heard the child's cry. A crowd gathered and rushed the baby to the Bokakhat hospital for medical examination.
The infant was abandoned close to a store in a cloth bag. An investigation has been initiated to identify the parents of the infant, even though it is unknown who abandoned the child.
To identify the culprit responsible for the incident, CCTV footage in and around the shop is also being monitored. According to locals, the incident might also be a case of child trafficking, but only an investigation will reveal the actual facts.
Similarly, residents of Khulicherra village in Cachar, Assam, were shocked when the body of a newborn was found in a forested area earlier last month. The baby’s body had been partially eaten by stray dogs. Pedestrians passing by made the grim discovery and were horrified to see the dogs feeding on the remains.
The newborn’s body was found near the roadside in a remote forest area. When locals saw the dogs attacking the body, they quickly went to the spot and recovered what was left.
