KOKRAJHAR: The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) is going to celebrate the 5th BTR Peace Accord Day at Kashikotra Higher Secondary playground, Chirang district on January 27. The BTR accord which was signed on 27 January, 2020 with the Bodo movement organizations -ABSU, United Bodo People’s Organization (UBPO) and four factions of the NDFB and Government of India and Government of Assam during the NDA-II Government is completing five years on January 27. The ABSU today reiterated the timely implementation of all clauses of BTR accord in a proper manner.
The President of ABSU Dipen Boro, in a press meet held at Bodofa House here today, said that peace prevailed in BTR and there have been no violations and bloodshed anymore in the region. He said that the ABSU was one of the major stakeholders of the accord and it has been supporting and monitoring the growth and developmental activities of the government of BTR as a responsible organization. He also said that many clauses of the BTR accord had been implemented and some major clauses are in the final stage for implementation and will need some more time.
Boro said that the programme will include flag hoisting of the ABSU, floral tribute to Bodofa UN Brahma, homage to the Bodoland martyrs, release of pigeon for peace and prosperity, rally for peace and a grand open discussion on the topic – ‘Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma and dream for building a vibrant Bodo community’ in connection with the Bodo Peace Accord Day. He said that the programme will be attended by all the signatory leaders along with BTC Chief Pramod Boro, Deputy CEM Gobinda Ch Basumatary, Cabinet Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narzary, former general secretary of the NDFB (Ranjan Daimary)- Ohnjalu Basumatary, Dil Ranjan Narzary, former VP, NDFB (RD), Ranjit Basumatary, EM, BTR, Saikhong Basumatary, EM, BTR, Jayanta Basumatary, MP, Lok Sabha and other distinguished dignitaries. He also said that the organizers have invited all the Bodo nationalist organizations in the grand programme in one umbrella where over
3000 delegates from ABSU, Ex NDFB Welfare Association, United Boro People Organization, Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Dularai Boro Harimu Afad, All Bodo Primary Teacher Association, All Bodo Women Welfare Federation, Ex Volunteer Force, Boro Cine Artistes Association, Boro Samaj, Boro department College Teachers’ Association, BTR Principals’ Council, BTR Region Tribal Sangha Co-ordination Committee, Boro Mothers’ Association and Boro People’s Co-ordination Committee, and former leaders of different organizations are set to attend the programme.
The ABSU President said, “After BTR accord, 2020, permanent peace has prevailed in the BTR region and Assam without any violence and disturbances and It was our commitment to uphold the Bodoland region with peace, harmony, and prosperity and to build the Bodo community with the principle of Bodofa- to uplift the Bodo as a vibrant community in the world with the slogan and spirit- ‘Bodos of the world unite’ and work for socio-economic development, quality and better education, safeguard of our identity, land, language, and culture through constitutional and political rights.”
The ABSU urged the union and state governments to fulfil their commitment for time bound implementation of all the remaining clauses of the Bodo Peace Accord at this moment of the completion of five years of the accord. The union also appealed to the Government of India and Assam for release of all the 66 former NDFB personnel from the central jail and for withdrawal of their pending cases. The ABSU President further said that the Bodo community was highly hopeful that the dynamic leadership in centre and state will address all the pending issues at the earliest.
