GUWAHATI: In a major initiative in the Assam Budget for 2025-26, the state government has allocated Rs. 24 crore to support veterinary healthcare infrastructure. The amount will enable the setting up of three state-of-the-art Pet Care Hospitals in Guwahati, Bokakhat and Dibrugarh to meet the increasing need for quality veterinary services.
Dibrugarh Pet Care Hospital, positioned in a major urban hub of Upper Assam, will be playing a critical role in improving animal health across the region. Due to be in full operation by October 2025, the hospital will address the long-standing demand for high-quality veterinary care, serving growing numbers of pet owners and rising interest in animal welfare.
This project has been well received by animal enthusiasts, pet owners and veterinarians alike as an important development towards enhancing the standards of animal healthcare. The establishment of the Dibrugarh Pet Care Hospital is likely to be a core animal healthcare facility for Upper Assam, providing much-needed services and assistance to the community at large.
Meanwhile, the Assam Government has approved several significant projects, including the "Assam Coaching Institutes (Control & Regulation) Act, 2025" to regulate coaching institutes, Mega Industrial Parks in Kamrup and Morigaon, and Accredited Driver Training Centres with Automated Testing Tracks to streamline the problem of driving licenses.
Others like proposing Majuli and Sivasagar as UNESCO Heritage sites, conducting proper conduct of NEET examinations in government schools, and allocating Rs. 21.52 crore for SIDBI Cluster Development Fund schemes to develop MSMEs were also discussed.
