BARPETA: The District Commissioner’s Office in Barpeta observed Safer Internet Day on Tuesday, underscoring the significance of cyber hygiene and cybersecurity awareness among both government officials and the general public.
Prior to the event, a training and capacity-building session for MIS officials was conducted on February 10, led by Jayanta Bora, ACS, Additional District Commissioner, Barpeta.
The Additional District Informatics Officer (ADIO) emphasized the importance of online safety for all officials during the gathering. Informative leaflets were distributed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to raise awareness about cyber threats.
The ADIO cautioned attendees against sharing sensitive information on social media, highlighting various online fraud tactics employed by scammers, including lottery scams, investment frauds, phishing, impersonation, and identity theft. Furthermore, he advised DC Office employees on legal measures to counter such cybercrimes.
The meeting was attended by the DIPRO, Barpeta; District Manager of DITEC, Barpeta; ILRMS Consultant (Revenue, Barpeta); and staff members from the DC Office. Additionally, Safer Internet Day was also celebrated at Circle Offices, BDO Offices, BEEO Offices, and MB Offices across Barpeta District.
Through Safer Internet Day, the Government of India aims to educate a diverse range of internet users about safe online practices, cyber hygiene, major cyber threats, and effective mitigation strategies, fostering responsible internet usage among citizens.
