BAJALI: A major land dispute has been reported in Assam's Bajali district where there are serious allegations against Barpeta Primary Education Officer Ratul Kumar Das and his brother Manasjyoti Das who is a dentist in ONGC. Ratan Saha, a resident of Sarupeta, has blamed the Das brothers for illegally occupying his land when he was away on work commitments.

Saha contends that the brothers exploited their connections with the Bajali District Commissioner to manipulate land records back in 2016, transferring ownership of his property into their names through forged documents. The situation reportedly worsened in 2022 when the Das brothers subdivided and redistributed two kathas of the land among themselves.

When Saha found out about the suspected fraud, he sought proper redressal by filing a complaint with the Chief Minister's Office, which prompted the Sarupeta Revenue Circle to rectify the land records. Even with this official correction, Saha has not been able to recover his property and is now residing in a rented house.

In a quest for additional help, Saha lodged a formal complaint with the Chief Minister's Grievance Cell. Subsequently, the Bajali District Commissioner was instructed to ensure the return of the land to Saha. However, reports show that no serious action has been taken to address the issue.

Saha has also made a public outcry to the Chief Minister to intervene personally, demanding justice and the immediate restoration of his land. Members of the local community have come out in support of Saha, demanding action at once to settle the long-standing dispute.
