Assam: BGR’s IndianOil distributes medicated mosquito nets in Bongaigaon

IndianOil’s BGR distributes 27,000 mosquito nets, 752 ASHA kits in Bongaigaon to fight malaria under major CSR health drive.

KOKRAJHAR: In a significant Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at strengthening public health infrastructure and combating the recent surge in malaria cases, IndianOil’s Bongaigaon Refinery (BGR) on Thursday distributed 27,000 medicated mosquito nets to needy residents and 752 emergency ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) kits to ASHA workers in Bongaigaon district. The distribution event took place at the Block Primary Health Centre, Bongaigaon.

 The urgent intervention comes in response to a sudden and concerning rise in malaria incidents across the district. The medicated mosquito nets are expected to provide crucial protection against mosquito-borne diseases, particularly for vulnerable populations. Furthermore, the emergency ASHA kits, comprising essential diagnostic equipment such as Glucometers, BP Machines, and other primary health testing tools, will empower ground-level ASHA workers to facilitate timely detection of diseases, enabling quicker medical intervention and better health outcomes for the community.

The impactful event was graced by several distinguished guests, including MP, Lok Sabha, Barpeta, Phani Bhusan Choudhury, who lauded IndianOil Bongaigaon Refinery’s proactive CSR efforts. Choudhury acknowledged the refinery’s commitment to social welfare and expressed his expectation for continued support from the refinery for various district needs.

District Commissioner Nabadeep Pathak also extended his heartfelt gratitude for the initiative, highlighting its importance in bolstering the district’s health response. Nayan Kumar Barua, Executive Director and Refinery Head of IndianOil Bongaigaon Refinery, reaffirmed the refinery’s dedication to community well-being. He stated that Bongaigaon Refinery is committed to providing extensive support to the district in line with the company’s robust CSR policy.

Other officials from IndianOil Bongaigaon Refinery and the District Health Society, Bongaigaon, were also present to witness the distribution, underscoring the collaborative effort to enhance public health in the region.

This initiative underscores IndianOil Bongaigaon Refinery’s commitment to sustainable development and its proactive role in addressing critical health challenges faced by the common masses of the district.
