Assam: Bhergaon Block BPF president Nerswn Boro resigns

In a fresh blow to BPF, former MCLA and BTC Deputy Speaker Nerswn Boro resigned from the party on April 20, citing personal reasons.

KOKRAJHAR: In yet another jolt to BPF, former MCLA and Deputy Speaker of BTC Legislative Assembly and current president of Bhergaon Block BPF Nerswn Boro has tendered his resignation letter to BPF president Hagrama Mohilary on April 20 citing his inability to continue with the party due to his personal circumstances. In his resignation letter to BPF president Hagrama Mohilary, Boro said that he tendered his resignation from the post of president of Bhergaon Block Committee as well as primary membership of the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) due to his personal and domestic circumstances. He said that he was grateful to all the party members, colleagues, leaders, advisors as well-wishers for entrusting him with the great obligation and responsibility of the party to serve the people for the past almost 17 years, from 2008 till today. He hoped that under the leadership of Hagrama Mohilary, the party will continue to grow and fulfil the aspirations of the people in future.

Most of the senior BPF leaders have resigned from the party citing various reasons and over 80 percent deserters have joined the UPPL while the rest have joined the BJP. Senior BPF leaders Chandan Brahma, former minister and vice-president Kampa Borgoyary, former BTC deputy chief and vice-president, former MCLA Jay Mashahary, MCLA Saikhong Basumatary, former MCLA Dhananjay Basumatary, former MLA and president of Baksa district BPF Hitesh Basumatary, former secretary of Ex-BLT Welfare Society Kabiranjan Brahma, and many BPF leaders of District and Block committees and Youth and Women wings have deserted BPF and joined the UPPL. Besides, BPF leaders like Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary, who was a senior BPF leader and Rajya Sabha MP, former EM and BTC MCLA Rajib Brahma, former EM and present MCLA Bijitgwra Basumatary, former EM and present MCLA Reo Reoa Narzihary have earlier resigned from the party and joined BJP. However, MCLA Reo Reoa Narzihary has recently resigned from BJP and is likely to join UPPL.
