TINSUKIA: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has strongly opposed the proposed Bihar Day celebrations in Tinsukia, warning of serious consequences if the event goes ahead. Leaders of AASU have declared that “only Assam Day will be celebrated here," threatening to intensify their protest if the organizers move forward with the event.

Speaking to the media, AASU representatives stated that celebrating Bihar Day in Assam is an affront to the state’s identity and culture. They urged organizers to reconsider the event to avoid tensions. AASU has a history of safeguarding Assam’s cultural and political interests, and this latest opposition reflects their firm stance on preserving regional identity.

After encountering strong opposition from the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) and other pressure groups, the organizers decided to call off the Bihar Day event that was originally planned for March 22 in Tinsukia.

Meanwhile, the Margherita Revenue Circle celebrated its 44th Foundation Day with a lively celebration on Monday, March 17, marking over four decades of service to the community.

The revenue circle, which was established on March 17, 1981, after being separated from the Tinsukia Revenue Circle, has played a significant role in bringing administrative services closer to the people who have lived there for the past 44 years.
