Assam: Bihu workshop concludes at NRL’s Kunjakanan

NUMALIGARH: A vibrant ten-day-long workshop on Dhol playing and Bihu dance concluded today at the Numaligarh Refinery’s Kunjakanan under the initiative of the Sarbajanin Kendra. The workshop, which began on April 1, witnessed enthusiastic participation from 325 trainees who received hands-on training in traditional Assamese folk arts.

Renowned Dhol artiste Debeswar Saikia led the Dhol training, while popular Bihu dancer Shirochi Saikia, known for her performances at Latasil Bihu, conducted the dance sessions. They were ably supported by assistant trainer Nimisha Gogoi and Dhol artistes Jadu Saikia and Pepuwa Latumoni Bora.

 In a grand closing ceremony today, the trainees showcased their skills through captivating performances of Bihu dance and Dhol rhythms, delighting the culturally inclined audience. The event was graced by the presence of Kunjakanan’s Sarbajanin Kendra office bearer Ripun Saikia and Numaligarh Refinery Limited’s (NRL’s) Deputy General Manager Bishwajit Bora, along with other distinguished guests. The initiative was widely appreciated for promoting and preserving Assam’s rich cultural heritage while providing a platform for young talents to learn and express traditional art forms.
