KARBI ANGLONG: In a significant event, a total of 1002 persons from the All Party Hills Leaders' Conference (APHLC) formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday during a program organized by the BJP of East Karbi Anglong District Committee held at Desobai playground under the Singhason MAC constituency.
Led by Deori Terang, finance secretary of APHLC from the Singhason constituency, the members were welcomed by the chief executive member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang.
“They (the opposition) cannot even hold a meeting nowadays. Having nothing to do, they call a couple of social media people and post it on social media. They alleged that I have given 1000 acres of land to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma; this is a lie. They alleged that I misappropriated Forest Department funds by taking several crores in the guise of a nursery, and also alleged that the ED has visited my residence,” Ronghang said.
He further said, “Seeing the good work of the BJP, the opposition is leaving their party in droves, whether it’s the Congress, APHLC, or the Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC). Mahila Congress of West Karbi Anglong has also joined the BJP in its entirety.”
At the public meeting, the local MAC, MP Amarsing Tisso, and president of the BJP East Karbi Anglong District Committee, Rolland Killing, were present.
