DIBRUGARH: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Scheduled Tribe Morcha staged a massive protest in Dibrugarh demanding the arrest of Congress MLA Nurul Huda for allegedly assaulting Assam Assembly Deputy Speaker Dr Nomal Momin, who is also the MLA from Bokajan assembly constituency. The BJP protesters staged a sit-in demonstration at Chowkidingee before proceeding to the front of DC Office, Dibrugarh. The BJP leaders vehemently criticized the incident and demanded the immediate arrest of Huda. The protestors held placards and raised slogans, insisting on immediate legal action against Huda.  “We demand that MLA Nurul Huda resign from his position because he has done a shameful act. This is a matter of grave concern. If a common citizen is punished for crimes like assault, why should an MLA be treated differently? The law must be equal for all,” said Dibrugarh District BJP President Dulal Bora. He said, “We demand that Nurul Hudda should be arrested for his act. It was highly condemnable. He has misused his position by doing such an act.”  He further added that such violence could not be tolerated and called for strict legal consequences for the accused Congress legislator. The BJP leaders warned that failing to act against Huda would send a dangerous message about law enforcement and accountability in the state.
