Assam: Blood Component Separation Unit inaugurated at at Kanaklata CH, Tezpur

A major healthcare boost as Blood Component Separation Unit inaugurated at Kanaklata Civil Hospital, Tezpur, on Friday.

TEZPUR: A major milestone in public healthcare was achieved on Friday with the inauguration of the Blood Component Separation Unit at the Blood Centre of Kanaklata Civil Hospital, Tezpur. The facility was formally inaugurated by the District Commissioner of Sonitpur, Ankur Bharali, in the presence of Dr Hiranjan Saikia, Superintendent of the hospital, and Dr J Bezbaruah, In-Charge of the Blood Centre. Also present on the occasion were senior officials from the Health and Family Welfare Department, the District Programme Management Unit of NHM, District Information & Public Relations Officer, and several dignitaries representing prominent social organizations.

With the establishment of this state-of-the-art unit, the blood centre is now equipped to prepare critical blood components such as Packed Red Blood Cells (PRBC), Fresh Frozen Plasma (FFP), Platelets, and Cryoprecipitate. This development is expected to significantly enhance emergency and routine medical care for patients in need of transfusion support.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from various social and voluntary organizations, including the Indian Red Cross Society, IMA Tezpur branch, Operation Rakt, Terapanth Yubak Parishad, Tezpur Ramkrishna Sewashram, Tezpur Bengali Aboitonik Natya Samaj, and SSB, Salonibari.

Adding to the spirit of service, volunteers from SSB, Salonibari conducted a blood donation drive under the banner of Operation Rakt, exemplifying their dedication to public welfare and the cause of voluntary blood donation.

The new unit marks a vital step forward in improving blood management and availability in the region, and stands as a testament to collaborative efforts between the government, healthcare providers, and community organizations.
