DIGBOI: An infuriated mob of Bordumsa in Assam’s Tinsukia district expressed strong resentment over Bordumsa Police allegedly torturing an innocent youth, much in a style resembling the Talibani forces known for inhuman barbarism. According to aggrieved agitators who shouted anti-government slogans in front of the Bordumsa Police Station, a youth named Jayanta Moran was brutally assaulted by police without any rhymes and reason of strong merit on May 3 in the police station. Earlier, on May 2, the youth and a police official had engaged in a verbal altercation for breaking a queue by the youth voter in a polling station while casting his vote in the Panchayat election. Later, the youth was allegedly called in to the police station and was inflicted an impermissible form of physical torture for the offence not defined anywhere. According to Bhadreswar Moran, an active BJP leader of Buri Dehing Mouza, the barbarism of Assam Police is condemnable at times when Chief Minister of the state Himanta Biswa Sarma has been insisting on bridging the gap between the police and the community.
Meanwhile, taking a strong cognizance, the DGP Assam Police, in his twitter handle, has ordered the suspension of the officer and personnel involved, with the OC Bordumsa to be reserved closed. The top cop of the state also asked the SP Tinsukia to complete the inquiry procedures within 48 hours.
