Assam: Cachar Police Arrest Key Accused Rupali Dutta in Human Trafficking Scam

In a major breakthrough, the Cachar Police succeeded in arresting one of the main accused in the human trafficking scam that was unearthed in Rajasthan.

SILCHAR: In a major breakthrough, the Cachar Police succeeded in arresting one of the main accused in the human trafficking scam that was unearthed in Rajasthan. The prime accused Rupali Dutta was arrested in Telangana. Another kingpin of the racket Gangu Ganju is still at large.

Recently, an investigation by Cachar Police on an apparently usual missing case of two minor girls from tea gardens in the Kalain area led to an unearthing of an inter-state human trafficking gang. Further investigation tracked the girls to remote villages in Rajasthan. With the cooperation of its Rajasthan counterpart, Cachar Police finally succeeded in rescuing the girls. Another girl from the Barak Valley, however, managed to escape from the hands of the miscreants and already returned to Guwahati.

Cachar SP Numol Mahatta said that in connection with the case of human trafficking of two minor girls from Gumrah Tea Estate, who were recovered along with accused namely, Leela Ram from Jaipur, further investigation led to arrest of one of the main accused Rupali Dutta  of Brahmangram, Kalain. She was arrested by sending a team of Cachar Police to Hyderabad, Telangana from Nanakramguda.  Rupali Dutta has been taken into police custody for 5 days from the court, Mahatta added. He further informed that another prime accused Gangu Ganju was still at large.
