Assam Chambers of Commerce Constitutes North Lakhimpur Unit

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district unit of Assam Chambers of Commerce was constituted in the presence of businessmen across the district. On this occasion, a meeting was organized in North Lakhimpur town. The meeting was held with Jagdish Bajaj, a prominent businessman of Lakhimpur, in the chair. Assam Chambers of Commerce president Rupam Goswami, secretary-general Shishir Deb Kalita and Guwahati city committee secretary-general Pankaj Pratim Deka took part in the meeting as chief guests and observers. They delivered their lecture elaborating the aims and objectives of the organization, highlighting various critical issues of the business-related communities and need of a common forum in order to tackle the problems faced by the businessmen in the contemporary time.

Businessmen from various parts of Lakhimpur like North Lakhimpur, Dhakuakhana, Laluk, Bihpuriya, Narayanpur were present in the meeting. They raised their problems in the meeting which were discussed in details. In the same programme, the 31-member Lakhimpur District Committee of Assam Chambers of Commerce was constituted with Jayanta Khaond as president and Ramesh Bajaj as secretary general. Several crucial resolutions on various issues, including the ‘donation culture’ of the State, were taken in the meeting which unanimously decided to extend their cooperation for the smooth conduct of the Union Government’s scheme adapted for granting pension to small businessmen after the age of 60.
