GUWAHATI: Innovative schemes under the Chief Minister's Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yojana (CMSGUY), a flagship initiative aiming to double farmers' incomes, are making significant strides. One such program, “Livelihood and Employment Generation for Progressive Farmers in the Livestock Sector,” provides financial assistance to farmer groups with viable project ideas.

Currently, this initiative has supported approximately 2,500 beneficiaries with funding totaling Rs 10 crore. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday distributed financial aid to 800 farmers in Jalukbari, further boosting efforts to empower the agricultural community and enhance their livelihoods.

In a message shared on the social media platform X, CM Sarma highlighted the government’s emphasis on empowering youth through modern farming techniques. He announced the distribution of farm machinery in Kamrup, aligning with the broader strategy to support farmer communities.

The government's aid to 800 farmers during a program on December 8 marked a significant step in the ongoing efforts to strengthen the agricultural economy and raise farmers' living standards.

Later in the day, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also performed the "bhumi pujan" (groundbreaking ceremony) for a 12.2-km bridge between Sualkuchi and Palasbari over the Brahmaputra River, describing it as a transformative project for people on both banks of the river.
