TEZPUR: Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda inaugurated the new library and informatics center at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health (LGBRIMH) on Wednesday.
Accompanied by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda visited the hospital complex in Sonitpur district and inaugurated the center. Nadda is on a one-day visit to Assam to participate in several official programs.
He arrived in Guwahati late Tuesday night and was scheduled to travel to Tezpur by helicopter the following morning. However, due to adverse weather conditions, he traveled by road from Guwahati, which delayed his arrival at the event, an official stated.
After inaugurating the library and informatics center at LGBRIMH in Tezpur, Nadda attended the Board of Governors meeting, accompanied by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Health and Family Welfare Minister Ashok Singhal.
"I participated in the Board of Governors meeting, where several proposals were presented. We approved all of them to ensure the institute progresses rapidly in the coming days," Nadda informed reporters after the meeting.
During his visit, Nadda inaugurated the institute's main gate, which serves as an archive of the health establishment. Following his engagements in Tezpur, the Union Minister will travel to Mangaldai in Darrang district to lay the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art 50-bed critical care block at Mangaldai Civil Hospital.
"This marks a significant step in strengthening healthcare in Assam. The initiative will improve access to advanced medical services for the people of the state," a senior official from the Health and Family Welfare Ministry stated.
Nadda's final engagement will be a visit to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Guwahati, located in Kamrup district. There, he will review ongoing developmental projects alongside senior officials before departing from Guwahati.
