Assam CM Lays Foundation Stone For Critical Care Block In Silchar

SILCHAR: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone for a 50-bed Critical Care Block at SM Dev Civil Hospital in Silchar, marking a significant advancement in the region's healthcare capabilities.

The new facility, which will span 6,335 square meters, is designed as a ground-plus-four-storey structure and will feature essential medical services, including an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), operation theatre, isolation wards, and a pediatric care unit. The estimated cost for this project is Rs 24 crore.

During his visit, CM Sarma also inaugurated the work on a New Circuit House in Silchar, stressing that these developments will contribute towards the overall betterment of healthcare and infrastructure in the region. Further, he announced the proposal of a new 200-bed hospital and a flyover to ease traffic congestion in the town.

The foundation-laying ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including MP Parimal Suklabaidya and Ministers Jayanta Mallabaruah, Kaushik Rai, Krishnendu Paul along with local MLAs Mihir Kanti Shome, Dipayan Chakraborty, Nihar Ranjan Das and Bijay Malakar.

Earlier, CM Sarma attended the centenary celebrations of the Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama and opened a newly built universal temple in honor of Ramakrishna Paramhamsadeva in Silchar, again emphasizing his dedication to community development and welfare.
