Assam: CM Sarma urged to establish skill development university at Doomdooma

DOOMDOOMA: Doomdooma Press Club (DPC) in a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma urged him to establish the proposed skilled development university at Doomdooma. A delegation of DPC led by President Manoj Dutta while appreciating the state government’s decision to establish such a university in Tinsukia District in its latest cabinet meeting, submitted the memo in this regard to him through Doomdooma Co-District Commissioner (CDC) Nuzhat Nasreen on Wednesday.

The delegation comprising Vice-President Abhijit Khataniar, former president duo Arjun Baruah and Anuj Kalita and Office Secretary Kuladhar Barman submitted another memorandum to Doomdooma CDC stating various long-standing demands like immediate construction of the bridge over Doomdooma River at old Assam Trunk Road connecting Kumarpatti and Hansara, eviction drive for removal of illegal encroachments on footpaths of the town for free movement of pedestrians, arrangements of piped gas in the Greater Doomdooma area, arrangement of movement of private buses and commercial vehicles from private bus stoppage constructed by Doomdooma Municipal Board (DMB) a few years back, construction of an indoor stadium-cum-auditorium at Doomdooma Town Field, upgradation of Doomdooma 30-Bedded FRU to 100-bedded hospital with blood bank facility, steps for operationalization of water supply scheme, steps for effective traffic control, etc. immediately for proper administration and for the benefit of the people.

CDC Nuzhat Nasreen gave a patient hearing and assured the delegation that the matter will be looked into.
