DHUBRI: Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Tamarhat police station of Dhubri district conducted a raid and dismantled an illegal Teer gambling hub at Tamasha Bazaar on Wednesday. During the raid, the police arrested three persons allegedly working as Teer (traditional gambling) agents.
The three arrested Teer agents were identified as Jabbar Ali, Nuru Sheikh, and Yakuddin Sheikh from the same locality. The police seized Rs 1,560 in cash, materials related to Teer gambling, and two mobile handsets from the accused.
Similarly, in a separate incident, Dhubri police recovered a motorcycle bearing registration number WB74AM8064 (a Super Splendor) which was stolen from Dhubri town a few days ago. The person involved in the theft of the bike, Ashraful Sheikh, was arrested from a village under Tamarhat police station of Dhubri district on Wednesday.
In another operation, under the leadership of the Officer-in-Charge of the Shalkocha police outpost under the Chapar police station of the district, a police team launched a raid based on confidential information, recovered stolen truck parts, and arrested a youth in the case. According to a police source, the arrested youth was identified as Rafiqul Islam, son of Kusum Ali from Hatipota Part II under Chapor police station.
