TINSUKIA: A four-bedded Dialysis Unit was formally inaugurated at Tinsukia Medical College & Hospital (TMCH) today by Sanjoy Kishan, Tinsukia MLA, in presence of Chinmoy Pathak, ADC Health Tinsukia, Dr Rupak Gogoi, Principal of TMCH, Dr Mukul Sharma, Superintendent of TMCH, Dr Jayanta Bhattacharjee, Jt Director of Health Services, Tinsukia, and representatives from OIL Duliajan, among others. The ceremony took place at the OPD premises of Tinsukia Medical College & Hospital.
This new facility will accommodate 12 patients in three shifts each day. The centre is a part of the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme (PMNDP), which operates under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode through NHM Assam, managed by Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd, with sponsorship from OIL India Limited, Duliajan.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Rupak Gogoi, Principal of TMCH, said that previously, patients had to travel long distances to access dialysis services, often incurring high transportation costs. Additionally, two breastfeeding corners at the OPD and IPD of the Paediatrics Department at TMCH were also inaugurated by Kishan, with support from NHM Tinsukia.
