Assam: Dibrugarh University Physics Department observed alumni meet

The Department of Physics, Dibrugarh University has organized its first ever Alumni Meet today.

DIBRUGARH: The Department of Physics, Dibrugarh University has organized its first ever Alumni Meet today.

For the successful organization of this event of the department, an organizing committee was constituted with Prof Kalyan Bhuyan as the President, Dr Ranjan Changmai as the Executive President, Dr Gouree Shankar Das as the General Secretary, Prof Pankaj Dutta as the Treasurer, Dr BR Kalita and Dr A Borthakur as Joint Secretaries, Dr Barsha D Kakoty and Dr Binita Pathak as Assistant Secretaries.

As part of the celebration, a Souvenir Edition has been published with contributions from the former and present faculty members, alumni, as well as the students of the department.

The Souvenir has been jointly edited by Dr Mukunda M Gogoi, Scientist F, Vikram Sarabhai Space Station, ISRO and Dr Arup Borgohain, Scientist F, North-Eastern Space Application Centre, Shillong, Meghalaya and assisted by Dr Saradi Bora, Sadiya College.

 An alumni website has also been released, which was sponsored by the 2006-2008 batch.

A student clearing NET was felicitated by batch 2003-2005. This event has provided the alumni an opportunity to connect themselves more strongly with their alma mater and their teachers, mentors and friends.

The day-long program provided an opportunity to highlight the achievements of the department, its founders, former and current faculty members and the alumni. The alumni meet was inaugurated by Prof Jiten Hazarika, Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University at the University auditorium ‘Rangghar’.

More than 150 present and past students have participated in the Meet which includes a few senior founder teachers - Prof Kapil Mohan Khanna, Prof Kamal Chandra Baruah, Prof Banamali Baishya and other former Professors, Prof Paramanand Mahanta, Prof Amarendra Nath Phukan, Prof Amarendra Rajput, Prof Nirendra Chandra Sharma, BN Saikia, Prof Kunjalata Deori, Prof Pradip Kumar Bhuyan, Prof Someswar Gogoi, and Dr Suman Rai in hybrid mode.
