DIBRUGARH: A few hours of rainfall triggered widespread waterlogging in Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Road causing immense problem for the students to go to school. The entire stretch of road was waterlogged.
“It is not the first time, during rainy season the road gets waterlogged because the rain water cannot flush out due to poor drainage system. We are facing the problem since many years but the administration has failed to resolve the issue,” said a resident of Dibrugarh.
He said, “A drain was recently constructed but it has not been completed due to certain issues. The drain was built next to a railway track, however it would have been easier to remove the water if it had been built close to the PWD colony's wall..”
Residents expressed frustration over the recurring issue, blaming poor drainage maintenance and rampant garbage dumping for the situation.
Most of the drains are clogged due to garbage dumped in the drains causing inconvenience to the residents.
However, concerns remain high among residents, with many fearing worse conditions during the peak monsoon months.
“If this is the situation in May, what will happen in June and July? Some of the drains were poorly constructed without proper engineering,” said a local resident.
