DHUBRI: A cow's head was found in close proximity to the Khalilpur Ambagan Sarvajanik Maa Durga Temple grounds, causing tension in the Jhagrarpar neighbourhood of Dhubri in Assam. Both the Muslim and Hindu communities got united in calling for the immediate arrest of those involved in the act, which triggered massive protests.
Roads were blocked for hours by protesters who said that unknown criminals were trying to sow discord among the community. According to one demonstrator, this is a deliberate attempt to divide the two communities. Protesters pledged to keep up their agitation until justice is served.
Some have connected the occurrence to the Assam government's recent prohibition on the sale and consumption of beef in public, which has stoked rumours of a wider plot. A lot of people are of the view that this incident was planned to jeopardize the communal harmony.
Law enforcement swiftly stepped in, removed the cow head, and opened an investigation under the direction of Additional SP Dipjyoti Talukdar and Dhubri Sadar Police officials. While urging citizens to keep the peace, authorities promised the public that the offenders would face harsh punishment.
Leaders in the community repeated these ideas, urging composure and fortitude. "Unity is what makes us strong. We can't let these kinds of things split us apart," said a local elder.
