TANGLA: In sync with the National Youth Festival, a district-level Youth Festival was held in Udalguri recently. The event was organized under the initiative of Meri Bharat, Nehru Yuva Kendra, which operates under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India, with the support of the Udalguri district administration.
The day-long program was held at the auditorium of Udalguri College. Deputy Director of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Udalguri, Shekhar Dev explained the purpose of the event. He emphasized that the aim was to nurture and showcase the talents of youth through various competitions, which would then lead to district, state, and eventually national-level platforms.
In the programme, students were felicitated, including Shivam Jyoti Das, a student from Arunodoi Academy, Tangla, who secured second place at the State Workshop on Artificial Intelligence at the National Science Center, Guwahati, and Jitashree Sharma, a student from Majbat Adarsha Vidyalaya, among others. The event also witnessed stalls displaying informational brochures by the various government departments. Notably, competitions for youth between the ages of 15 and 29 were held in the district, covering categories such as poetry writing, painting, and mobile photography among others. In the Science Mela group event, Hrishikesh Sarma of Arunodoi Academy, Tangla, secured first position.
The winners of the competitions will have the opportunity to represent the district at the state level, and those who excel will be able to participate in the National Youth Festival. The event was attended by Coordinator of ASTEC Udalguri Jayanta Kumar Das, and senior journalist Rewati Raman Sapkota, among others.
