GUWAHATI: Assam has taken a major step towards educational innovation with the launch of "Nipun Mitra," an AI-powered app aimed at supporting educators and researchers. The app was unveiled by Education Minister Ranoj Pegu during the inauguration of a national seminar at Dispur College in Guwahati on Wednesday.

Nipun Mitra has been designed as a comprehensive resource for education professionals, offering valuable information on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), the Nipun Bharat Mission, and the Nipun Axom Mission.

The app helps teachers create lesson plans specifically focused on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN), thereby improving learning outcomes for primary school students. It also supports multiple languages, including Assamese and over 100 global languages, making it more accessible to users.

Developed by educator Prasanjit Sarma from Barpeta, the app has been praised as a game-changer in bridging the gap between policy and practice in education. The Education Minister also acknowledged Sarma’s efforts and recognized him for his contribution to integrating AI into teaching.

In addition to the app, Dr. Pegu launched "Anveshan," an e-magazine by the All Assam BRP Forum. The launch event highlighted the state’s growing commitment to improving educational practices and embracing technology to enhance learning across Assam.

Meanwhile, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, on Tuesday, distributed aid and appliances to Children with Special Needs (CwSN) in a ceremonial event organized by Samagra Shiksha, Assam. The event was held at the Assam Administrative Staff College, Khanapara.
