JAGIROAD: The Morigaon District Education Department in collaboration with the district administration and prison authorities today distributed educational certificates to ensure the education of the prisoners under the Nav Bharat Literacy Mission. The district education department has launched a study centre at the district jail with the aim of introducing the prisoners to educational life through eradicating illiteracy and making them educated citizens in the future. It is learnt that 27 students from the study centre of Morigaon District Jail appeared the examination for the first time and all the candidates passed with distinction.
The scheme was launched by the Morigaon District Education Department in collaboration with supervisors Mausumi Barkakati, Bandana Devi and Tripti Deka at the Prison Study Center on Wednesday. The event was attended by District Commissioner Devashish Sharma, Additional Commissioner Anusua Sharma, Superintendent of Prisons Manas Kumar Das, Jail Inspector Manami Huzuri, District Schools Inspector Apurba Thakuria and District Planning Officer Rohini Dutta and retired teacher Manmohan as guests of honour Rajbanshi officially presented certificates of educational qualifications to the inmates.
