DHEMAJI: A tragic road accident occurred this morning when ten students were traveling in an autorickshaw to their Matriculation Examination near Majarbari, within the jurisdiction of Silapathar Police Station in Dhemaji district, Assam.

According to reports, eight students were injured in the accident, with two critically wounded and referred to Dibrugarh for advanced treatment. The students were on their way to appear for the Mathematics paper on the third day of the HSLC Examination.

In spite of the mishap, six students managed to reach the examination center and appeared for the test. The incident has sparked concern among parents and guardians, who have appealed to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Education Minister Ranoj Pegu to arrange a re-examination for the affected students.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, a fatal accident took place near Kaljhar in Assam's Barpeta, and a ninth-grade student tragically lost his life. The deceased, Mehtab Khan, was only 15 years old and was a resident of Betbari Pathar village.

The accident occurred close to the Navodaya Jatiya Vidyalaya, where the student was driving his motorcycle, AS 15K 8492, to leave his younger sibling at a nearby primary school. Mehtab was hit by a speeding unidentified vehicle while on his way to Kaljhar market, resulting in his death on the spot.
