Assam: Farewell ceremony held for 93 Haj pilgrims in Goalpara district

A total of 93 Haj pilgrims from Goalpara district, who are scheduled to perform this year’s Haj rituals in Saudi Arabia, were given a warm farewell along with a ‘Haj kit’.

Goalpara: A total of 93 Haj pilgrims from Goalpara district, who are scheduled to perform this year’s Haj rituals in Saudi Arabia, were given a warm farewell along with a ‘Haj kit’ on Thursday. The event was organized by Anjuman E Khademul Islam, a prominent non-governmental organization.

The farewell ceremony was held at the Eidgah Haj Bhawan, with Nuruz Zaman, president of the committee, presiding over the programme. MLAs Abdur Rashid Mondal and AK Rashid Alom, along with prominent citizens including advocate Jiten Das, Sailen Das, and other dignitaries, attended the event.

Earlier, general secretary Abul Kalam Azad addressed the gathering and explained the purpose of the ceremony. Secretaries Nur Amin and Ahidul Hussain extended their support in organizing the programme. It is noteworthy that among the 93 pilgrims, 32 are women.
