BARPETA: A tragic road accident took place at Sarthebari in Assam's Barpeta district, claiming the lives of a father and son. The collision occurred on the Sarthebari-Barpeta road when a truck (AS17B 6496) struck a two-wheeler head-on. The father-son duo died at the scene, while two others were injured. The injured were immediately taken to Barpeta Medical College for treatment.
The deceased are residents of Tamuli Supar in Sarthebari, though their names have not been confirmed yet. The incident has left the local community in shock. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
Meanwhile, a deadly head-on collision between a night super bus and a truck occurred early Saturday near TechCity in the Bongra area of Assam's Kamrup Rural district, killing one person and injuring ten others.
The crash caused the bus to lose control and crash into a roadside tree, causing severe damage. The bus handyman, Mohinur Rahman, died on the spot, with his body found in three separate pieces.
The bus, traveling from Dhubri to Guwahati, had the registration number AS-17-B-8779. Both the bus and truck drivers fled the scene, leaving the injured passengers behind.
Police and emergency teams quickly reached the spot to assist the injured and clear the road. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident and locate the absconding drivers.
In another incident, ten students traveling to their Matriculation Examination in Dhemaji were injured in an autorickshaw accident. Two students are critically wounded and have been sent to Dibrugarh for treatment.
