KOKRAJHAR: Five children were rescued from suspected human traffickers at Kokrajhar railway station on Saturday evening, according to sources. RPF personnel from Kokrajhar, along with the SIB and RPF personnel from Alipurduar and SSB personnel of 6th Battalion, Ranighuli, Kokrajhar, conducted a joint drive against human trafficking, drugging and anti-social activities at the railway station. During the operation, five minors, including two girls and three boys, were rescued from Platform No. 1. According to the sources, the children had allegedly been lured by unidentified persons with promises of lucrative jobs in Gujarat. They had reportedly left their homes in Baksa district without informing their parents and were waiting at Kokrajhar station to board train No. 09526 Down Naharlagun–Happa Special for Gujarat. The rescued children were provided food and water at the RPF post at Kokrajhar. Their parents were subsequently informed about the incident over the phone. Later that night, the minors were handed over to the Superintendent of the Gwjwn Children Home, Kokrajhar, through the Project Coordinator of Child Helpline, Kokrajhar, for further care and eventual reunification with their legal guardians.
