GAURISAGAR: Padmeswar Dutta, a resident of Gaurisagar Dulia gaon, the first headmaster of Khanakhokora High School, an ideal farmer and
founder vice-president of NGO Krishak Nyas was publicly felicitated in a gorgeous function held at Khanakhokora High School recently.
The programme started with the lighting of a lamp lit by Tukheswar Borthakur, retired principal of Gaurisagar Higher Secondary Industrial Institute. Later, a felicitation meeting was held. Dr. Arun Changkakoty, former Joint Director of the Agriculture Department and President of Krishak Nyas, chaired it.
Dr. Anil Kumar Gogoi, former principal of Jhanji HNS College, took part as an invited guest. The whole meeting was anchored by Rajib Dutta, Publicity Secretary of Krishak Nyas, while Himadrijyoti Dutta, Chief Secretary of Krishak Nyas, explained the objective.
In his speech, Dutta said that Padmeswar Dutta, a former teacher and an ideal farmer, was affectionately called ‘Deka Lara’ on the floor of the Krishak Nyas due to his enthusiasm for work, whose efforts were incomparable and unique. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Gogoi appreciated the efforts of the Krishak Nyas and said that the society is still surviving because 60% of the people of the society are doing good work for the country. The other dignitaries who attended the function were Khireswar Neog, retired headmaster of Khanakhokora High School; Sabharam Saud, retired headmaster of Dikhowmukh Janajati High School; Hiren Kumar Neog, headmaster of Khanakhokora High School; and Padmeswar Dutta’s wife, Jogmaya Dutta, as distinguished guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Sabharam Saud said that teachers are symbols of sacrifice for the society. The NGO ‘Krishak Nyas’ should be a role model for society and deserves to be thanked for taking the proper initiative to honor such a sacrificial man. In the function on behalf of the public, Dr. Soneswar Borah, retired headmaster of Santipur High School, and Thaneswar Kalita, former principal, Demow Athabari HS school, delivered their speech about the life, work, and sacrifice of Padmeswar Dutta towards building the society.
Earlier, Ajit Kumar Nath, Vice-President of Krishak Nyas, delivered his welcome speech while Kamakhya Barua, welfare secretary of Krishak Nyas, offered a vote of thanks to all. Besides, Pabitra Kumar Dutta, retired principal (i/c) of Dikhowmukh College; Tarun Gogoi, former secretary of Gaurisagar Branch Senior Citizens Association; social worker Phanindra Bhattacharya; retired teacher Manjit Pukan; Bijoy Krishna Dutta, headmaster of Santipur High School; noted writer and journalist Rajib Dutta; Satyajit Saikia; writer Beauty Dutta; Utpal Sadhanidar, assistant professor of Kakojan College; and others. Besides Krishak Nyas, Khanakhokora High School, and various organizations, individuals felicitated Padmeswar Dutta. The meeting was started with a Borgeet performed by Abhigyan Saikia, a student of Class VIII of the school, while Akankshya Taye, a student of Class IX, delivered a welcome speech and depicted the life and work of Podmeswar Dutta. In his speech, Padmeswar Dutta expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to Krishak Nyas and others who showed honour to him. He said he will keep this honour in his bosom until death. Bikash Dutta, son of Padmeswar Dutta, expressed his gratitude on behalf of the family to all for giving honour to his father.
