Assam: Four Arrested in Crude Oil Pilferage Case; Police Seize Vehicle and 18 Drums in Makum

The police, based on an FIR lodged by OIL at Makum Police Station, arrested 4 persons and seized a vehicle in connection with pilferage of crude oil on Wednesday.

TINSUKIA: The police, based on an FIR lodged by OIL at Makum Police Station, arrested 4 persons and seized a vehicle in connection with pilferage of crude oil on Wednesday. The oil thieves have been identified as Amarjyoti Neog of Tarajan Gaon, and Pradip Gohain of Chinapatty under Makum PS, Huntu Baruah of Longsowal Gaon under Doomdooma PS, and Bhola Yadav alias Bidwan Yadav of Madanpur under Diwara district of UP.

Briefing media persons, ASP (HQ) Mrinmoy Das said that after OIL reported regular pilferage of crude oil from the oil fields in past 2 months, the police launched a massive operation and arrested the culprits including a manager of a highway construction. The manager Yadav confessed that the pilfered crude oil is mixed with Bitumen in highway construction. The police also seized a vehicle bearing registration number AS 02CC 7389 and 18 drums. A case has been registered at Makum PS no 46/2024 u/s 303 of BNS and under Section 15 of Petrol-Mineral-Pipeline Act.
