SIVASAGAR: Gargaon College, a leading institution in Upper Assam, has consistently demonstrated its commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and research excellence. The college’s Publication Cell has played a pivotal role in promoting scholarly publishing, producing several research-based books. Continuing this tradition of academic excellence, two seminal research-based books were released by Dr Ashok Kumar Bora, eminent academician, retired Professor and Former Head of the Department of Geography, Gauhati University. The book release ceremony took place today at the Academic Gallery of Gargaon College. The first book released is titled ‘Building Sustainability in India’s North-East: Challenges and Opportunities’ edited by Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta, distinguished academician and Principal of Gargaon College and Dr Rimjim Borah, Head and Assistant Professor of the Department of Economics, Gargaon College. The second book released on the occasion is titled ‘Contours of Politics, Indigeneity and Environment: A Transdisciplinary Perspective’ edited by Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta and Dr Shyamolima Saikia, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Gargaon College.
Launching the books, Dr Ashok Kumar Bora commended Gargaon College for its unwavering commitment to academic excellence and fostering a research-driven culture. He expressed optimism that these publications would serve as valuable resources for academicians and researchers, contributing significantly to the research related to Environment, Sustainability, Politics, Indigeneity among other critical issues of Northeast India. Notably, with the release of these two books, the Publication Cell of Gargaon College has achieved a significant milestone, with its total publications now standing at fifteen.
