Assam Girls Team Shines in 14th Mini National Roll Ball Championship

In the league matches, the Assam girls' team defeated Uttar Pradesh 3-0, Nagaland 9-0, Jharkhand 3-2, and Haryana 4-1.

GUWAHATI: The Assam girls' team emerged victorious in the 14th Mini National Roll Ball Championship held at the Rudra Singha Roll Ball Ground in Guwahati from the 18th to the 21st of January. Meanwhile, the boys' team secured the silver medal at the tournament.

In the league matches, the Assam girls' team defeated Uttar Pradesh 3-0, Nagaland 9-0, Jharkhand 3-2, and Haryana 4-1. They advanced to the quarterfinals, beating Andhra Pradesh 10-0, and triumphed over Maharashtra 4-2 in the semifinals. In the final, they dominated Rajasthan with a 10-2 victory, clinching the title. Rajasthan and Maharashtra finished second and third, respectively.

On the boys' side, Assam secured wins against Haryana (4-1), Madhya Pradesh (9-0), Manipur (5-0), Arunachal Pradesh (9-0), and Maharashtra (5-3) in the league stage. They defeated Uttar Pradesh 6-3 in the quarterfinals and Tamil Nadu 7-2 in the semifinals. However, the boys narrowly lost to Haryana in the final with a 2-1 scoreline.

Meanwhile, the Assam girls’ team clinched the title in the 3rd East Zone National Mini Roll Ball Championship that concluded in Kolkata earlier in November. The boys’ team bagged silver.

The final match in the girls’ section was held between Assam and Odisha. Assam dominated the game and registered an easy 7-1 victory. Earlier in the league stage, Assam won against Odisha (3-1), Bihar (7-2), and West Bengal (7-0).
