Assam: Gohpur Police recover suspected stolen scooters; one arrested

In a significant breakthrough, the Gohpur Police recovered seven TVS NTORQ scooters suspected to be stolen property

BISWANATH CHARIALI: In a significant breakthrough, the Gohpur Police recovered seven TVS NTORQ scooters suspected to be stolen property, during a series of raids conducted from April 19 to 27 across various locations within the jurisdiction of Gohpur Police Station in Biswanath district.

The operation was initiated in connection with Gohpur Police Station case No. 38/25 dated March 26, registered under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The recovered scooters are TVS NTORQ (Chassis No.-MD626AK31P3A087), TVS NTORQ (Chassis No.-MD626AK38R3G01958), TVS NTORQ (Registration No.-AS12AL 8488), TVS NTORQ (Chassis No.-MD626AK33M2D08449), TVS NTORQ (Chassis No.-MD626AK35N2A13550), TVS NTORQ (Registration No.-AS07S 6926), and TVS NTORQ (Registration No.- AS32B 9078)

Among these, one is linked to Gohpur PS Case No. 38/25, one associated with Bihpuria PS GDE No. 19, and one pertains to Helem PS Case No. 32/25. The respective scooters were handed over to the concerned police stations. The remaining four scooters are currently under investigation to ascertain their origins and rightful owners and efforts are on to dismantle the network involved in these thefts.

During the course of the investigation, one individual was arrested in connection with the case. He was identified as Akash Islary (20 years), son of Bijoy Islary of Modhya Sonapur village under Gohpur PS in Biswanath district. The arrested individual is currently in custody and further interrogation is underway to uncover additional information related to the thefts and any potential accomplices.
