KOKRAJHAR: Good Friday, Easter Saturday, and Easter Sunday were celebrated in a befitting manner in different churches across BTR. Easter Saturday, also known as Holy Saturday, is a significant day in the Christian calendar which marks the day between Good Friday and Easter Sunday, commemorating the time Jesus Christ’s body lay in the tomb after crucifixion.
Easter Saturday and Sunday were celebrated at John Bosco Church in Kokrajhar in a befitting manner. Fr Damian Borgiyary led the Holy Communion on Easter Saturday in the evening while Fr Francis Basumatary and Fr Kulandai Swamy led the Holy Mass and Eucharistic on Sunday morning. Easter Saturday is a day for reflection, contemplation, and preparation for the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday. It is the transition from sorrow to joy and symbolizes the transition from the sorrow of Good Friday to the joy of Easter Sunday, representing the triumph of life over death. Many Christians use this day to prepare for Easter celebrations, decorating eggs, and spending time with family and friends.
Kokrajhar John Bosco Church holds vigil services on Easter Saturday, featuring candlelight, music, and scripture readings. Easter Saturday holds significant spiritual and cultural importance, serving as a bridge between the somber reflection of Good Friday and the joyful celebration of Easter Sunday. The Holy Eucharist, also known as Communion or the Lord’s Supper, is a significant sacrament in Christian traditions, particularly in Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and some Protestant churches.
The Holy Eucharist is a sacred ritual where participants consume bread and juice (or grape juice), symbolizing the body and blood of Jesus Christ. It’s believed to facilitate spiritual communion with God and unity among believers as remembrance of Jesus’ sacrifice. The Eucharist commemorates Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples, his sacrifice, and his teachings. The believers participate in the Eucharist by receiving the consecrated bread and wine, often accompanied by prayers, hymns, and scripture. The Holy Eucharist is seen as a source of spiritual nourishment, strength, and guidance for believers. The Holy Eucharist holds deep spiritual significance, fostering a sense of community, devotion, and connection with God among Christians. The Communion, also known as the Lord’s Supper or the Eucharist, is a sacred ritual in Christian traditions where believers participate in a symbolic meal, typically involving bread and grape juice to commemorate Jesus Christ’s life, death, and resurrection.
During the Holy Eucharistic, Fr Francis Basumatary said that the belief in Jesus is universal and forever. He also said that Easter Saturday is the birth of eternal hope.
On the occasion of Easter Sunday, former Chief of BTC Hagrama Mohilary hoped that this Easter would be a blessed day to fill the hearts of all with joy, hope, and renewal. He also wished love, laughter, and sweet moments with family and friends and celebration of the miracle of new beginnings and the warmth of togetherness.
Former Deputy Chief of BTC Kampa Borgoyari said that Good Friday was a day of Reflection and Faith. On this solemn day of Good Friday and Easter Sunday, he remembered the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who gave his life for the love and salvation of humanity.
Borgoyari said that Good Friday was not just a day of sorrow but a reminder of the power of compassion, forgiveness, and hope. He said that Christ’s message of love, peace, and sacrifice continues to inspire people across the world, regardless of religion.
