Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya embarks on two-day visit to Karbi Anglong

Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya arrived at Diphu Railway Station at 1:00 PM on Thursday, marking the beginning of his two-day visit to Karbi Anglong district.

KHERONI: Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya arrived at Diphu Railway Station at 1:00 PM on Thursday, marking the beginning of his two-day visit to Karbi Anglong district. Accompanied by the First Lady of Assam, Kumud Devi, the Governor received a warm red-carpet welcome from the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang, Member of Parliament Amarsing Tisso, MLAs Bidya Sing Engleng (Diphu) and Darsing Ronghang (Howraghat), along with KAAC colleagues, officials from the district administration, law enforcement agencies, and local representatives.

On his maiden visit to the district, Governor Acharya participated in a series of scheduled programmes. He planted a neem tree under the initiative ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ at Taralangso ground. He also interacted with eminent personalities, Padma Shri awardees, social workers, and freedom fighters at the conference hall of Kajir Ronghangpi guest house, Taralangso. This was followed by a meeting with the CEM, Executive Members, and Council Members at the same venue. The Governor also chaired a departmental review meeting to assess the functioning of the KAAC. The day concluded with a vibrant cultural programme at Sing Mirjeng Achetai, Karbi People’s Hall, Diphu, followed by a night halt.

On July 11, Governor Acharya will visit various locations in Karbi Anglong to inspect the implementation of government flagship schemes and yojanas, with a focus on the district’s developmental initiatives.
