Assam: Guwahati Police Recovers Over ₹2 Lakh from Fake Online Investment Scam

Guwahati Police recovered ₹2,35,310 from a victim of a fake online investment scam. Cyber Crime team continues to investigate and recover the remaining funds, urging caution with online transactions.

GUWAHATI: In a major breakthrough, the Cyber Crime Police Station in Guwahati has managed to recover ₹2,35,310 credited back into the bank account of a victim who had been duped through an online investment scam. The victim, a resident of Satgaon, had initially lost ₹15,00,000 to the fraudulent scheme, underlining the rising concern of digital fraud.

The police shared the update on their official X handle, saying, "A team from Cyber PS recovered ₹2,35,310 after it was credited into the bank account of the victim. Efforts are ongoing to recover more funds.

The scam is a stark reminder of the rising number of online fraud cases that have plagued the city in recent times. Guwahati Police have been proactive about such incidents, with the Cyber Crime team working diligently to track down the culprits behind this operation. Authorities are also focused on recovering the remaining funds that were swindled from the victim.
